Costa del Sol

Explore The Cultural Mecca Of Malaga in Costa del Sol

When you move to the southern coast of Spain, the lifestyle is much slower than the hustle and bustle of big cities. Everything moves at a leisurely pace, letting the residents soak up the sun. However, sometimes everyone feels the urge to have an action-packed day of fun, right? If you’ve got the energy, Malaga certainly has plenty of exciting places to explore!

Butterfly Park of Benalmadena
Europe’s largest butterfly park in central Benalmadena is a wonderfully breathtaking place to visit if you want to reconnect with nature’s beauty. It boasts a tranquil Thai theme and is built to look like a Thai temple. There are over 1,500 butterflies in the park, representing 150 different species. There is a special place where visitors can watch new butterflies emerge from their cocoons to join their friends in the park.

Aqualand Torremolinos
The largest and oldest waterpark in Malaga province, Aqualand Torremolinos, definitely won’t disappoint. There are a whopping 15 waterslides for kids and ten just for thrill-seeking adults. With the enormous number of pools and watery areas, you’re sure to find a good spot. There’s even a separate area for people with younger kids who aren’t up to the slides.

You’ll even find Europe’s tallest waterslide, clocking in at 22 meters high, known as the Kamikaze! When you’ve had your fill of water and need a break, there are multiple restaurants to choose from, as well as a picnic place where you can bring your own food. Obviously, if you go during the summertime, you can expect the crowds since Aqualand is so famous, but with Costa del Sol’s nearly year-round sunshine, you can easily go in the offseason too.

Aquamijas
Also known as Parque Acuatico Mijas, this waterpark in Fuengirola goes all out with the fun! There are five main waterslides, three for older children and two for younger ones, so everyone will have a great time. It isn’t just a waterpark, though, despite the name. There’s a climbing wall and a mini golf course. Adults who want to relax while the kids run wild can take a siesta in the lovely jacuzzi.

Pindongos Treetop Adventure Park
Located near Malaga in the heart of the Sierra de los Camarolos, this park marks a new trend: treetop adventure parks. Most people think of Costa del Sol as primarily a beach (since it’s a coast), but the region is also quite mountainous, with plenty of strong trees growing along rivers. So, what is a treetop adventure park? It’s a place for people of all ages who want to return to their ape ancestry and swing among the leaves.

There are hanging bridges, ziplines, swings, rock climbing, and more. Unlike more commercialized parks, you feel one with nature at Pindongos. There are three routes to choose from, depending on your group’s fitness level and desire for a challenge. It’s completely safe for kids and adults, so everyone can tap into their inner Tarzan and feel like the king of the jungle! Explore The Cultural Mecca Of Malaga in Costa del Sol.
