7 Amazing Destinations in Costa del Sol

One of the best things about living along Spain's southern coast is how close everything is. You never need to worry about driving too far before entering another town. Check out some of the best destinations along the Costa del Sol when you feel like taking a trip!

Manilva
When searching for the perfect home along the southern Spanish coast, folks might recommend giving Manilva a thorough look-see, and for good reason. The Romans founded Manilva thousands of years ago, and there is still evidence in the preserved aqueduct and Roman sulfur baths. The white village of Manilva is quite close to a quaint fishing village called Sabinillas and near a yachting marina and golf course.

Casares
Even if you've never lived in a small town before, you won't be sacrificing anything with Casares since it's only a few hours' drive from Malaga, the main city of the Andalusian region. Your drive will be just as scenic as the town, and it's easy to maintain that laid-back atmosphere while you go. You can also take the buses between Casares and Estepona, then from Estepona to Malaga. The whole trip should only take about two hours each way. Just keep track of the bus schedule, so you don't accidentally get stranded somewhere!

Estepona
One of the most elegant towns on the Costa del Sol, Estepona attracts people of all kinds year-round. Estepona Port and Marina is a working fishing port with tons of restaurants and bars for you to take a refreshing rest in the evening. Or, if you go earlier on Sunday, you can catch the street market and shop around for interesting textiles. Want to shop for something more upscale? Puerto Banus is just a 30-minute drive from Estepona and offers a variety of designer stores.

Marbella
The glamorous town of Marbella is one of the favorites among frequent visitors as an enchanting seaside place facing a lovely bay. Only 40 minutes away from Malaga's airport by car, it's easily accessible, and you'll love the scenic drive there.

Benahavis
Located near the western end of the Sun Coast, Benahavis is quite close to the villages of Marbella, San Pedro, and Estepona. It's situated very near the mountains, so you aren't right on the ocean, but you're close enough to get there with a short drive. You can tell your guests you're a little under an hour's drive from Malaga Airport.

Nueva Andalucia
Just a 10-minute drive from Marbella, Nueva Andalucia is centrally located on the Costa del Sol. You'll find it is very close to the other towns along the Costa del Sol. You need only hop in the car for about 20 minutes to see Estepona, Benahavis, or Ronda. You can even walk to San Pedro's rustic cobblestone streets and colorful flower baskets set out against whitewashed facades.

Fuengirola
It's easily accessible by bus and a commuter rail service that connects Malaga to many of the smaller towns and villages along the coast. With superb parks, golf courses, and restaurants, you won't be sorry for stopping by. No matter where you settle down, you're never far from anywhere else. 7 Amazing Destinations in Costa del Sol.
